The Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season – Pirelli’s tyre for any season
In previous articles linking to Pirelli’s tyre range, we have looked at the flagship performance tyre the Pirelli P Zero and Pirelli’s green tyre the Cinturato P7. In this article, we are going to examine the features and technology of the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season. This tyre has been designed for 4x4 vehicles and is classified as an all season tyre, meaning that it can perform in a range of different climates and seasons. In order to do this the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season must have a perfect combination of features that can adapt to warm and cold weather. Interestingly, in a report by Tyre Press it was reported that UK car drivers are becoming more interested in all season tyres.
Features of the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season
Green performance
Green performance is a feature that has also been emphasised on the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season. This is achieved through a combination of the tyre compound and tread of the tyre, contributing to create low rolling resistance. Low rolling resistance not only means that less harmful emissions are being expelled into the atmosphere, but it also increases fuel economy, making fuel less expensive throughout the year.
All season ability
One of the main features of the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season is the fact that it can be used all year round. This is thanks to a very innovative tyre compound, that can adapt and perform in different temperatures. This enhances grip in wet and dry conditions. In order to deal with snow and ice, tiny sipes have also been included into the tyre to enhance traction on difficult terrain, and also funnelling out any water, avoiding aquaplaning.
Increased stability
The Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season has been developed with a series of ribs constructed throughout the tyre. These ribs not only create a more rigid tyre, but also increase durability. This is achieved as the ribs maximise the contact between the road and tyre, distributing tyre wear evenly, avoiding balding spots in one location.
Available technology for the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season
Run flat
Run flat is a technology that ensures that your tyres can continue to be operational during a rapid loss of inflation. This is possible through the use of reinforced sidewalls that can cope with the lack of air for a limited time. This makes your tyre safer and more convenient in the case of a blowout.
PNCS
PNCS (Pirelli Noise Cancelling System) is a technology used to enhance comfort by reducing external noise created by the tyre. This technology works due to a sound absorbing device planted on the inside wall of the tyre. This device can reduce external tyre noise by half.
